A Universidade do Estado do Amazonas (UEA), por meio do Centro de Estudos Superiores de Itacoatiara (Cesit), recebeu a Caravana Fluvial Iarauçu, iniciativa franco-brasileira promovida pelo Instituto de Pesquisa para o Desenvolvimento (IRD) e pela Embaixada da França no Brasil, em parceria com a Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (Capes). A ação integra a mobilização em torno da 30ª Conferência das Nações Unidas sobre Mudanças Climáticas (COP 30), que será realizada em novembro de 2025, em Belém (PA).
Em uma navegação por diferentes ecossistemas, contextos culturais e experiências locais de adaptação climática, a Iaraçu destaca o protagonismo amazônico na agenda internacional da sustentabilidade. O percurso inclui as cidades de Manaus, Itacoatiara, Parintins, Óbidos, Santarém, Monte Alegre, Almeirim, Gurupá, Breves e Belém, com o trajeto de retorno previsto para 14 de novembro.
A iniciativa busca agir pela ciência e mobiliza a investigação e a diplomacia científica para reforçar a adaptação às mudanças climáticas; ouvir os territórios; valorizar os conhecimentos e as vozes das comunidades amazônicas; valorizar as iniciativas de transição ecológica e resiliência; e criar pontes entre ciência, sociedade e tomadores de decisão, desde as margens dos rios amazônicos até os espaços de debate da COP30.
Durante reunião em Itacoatiara com a equipe que participará da expedição, o pró-reitor de Pesquisa e Pós-Graduação, Prof. Dr. Roberto Mubarac, destacou que a presença da Capes e da Embaixada da França reforçou o papel estratégico da UEA na formação de profissionais comprometidos com o meio ambiente e em realizar ações de grande escala. “A UEA tem investido em projetos que unem educação, sustentabilidade e inovação. Esse encontro é uma oportunidade para mostrar o protagonismo da universidade na preparação da Amazônia não somente para a COP30, mas para o futuro cada vez melhor que virá após esse grande evento”, afirmou.
